Daycare

Baxter provides quality childcare to low-income families at a cost within their reach.  Over 100 children received daycare services in 2001; 49 of those families have incomes of under $20,000 a year.

By providing complete care for children from infancy to age twelve, Baxter helps parents — mostly single mothers — work full-time or return to school to develop marketable skills.  Parents of latchkey children can go to work in the morning with the assurance that their kids will make it to school safe and on time. In the afternoon parents are freed from the worry of what their children may be doing or what threats may be surrounding them.  Full-time and before/after-school care is provided, as is transportation.  The center operates from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The daycare center works in collaboration with Kent Regional 4-C, Kent County Head Start, and the Kent County Family Independence Agency. Baxter Day Care is a center licensed by the State of Michigan and is working toward National Accreditation.
